Often, a soft answer will melt hostility!
If it’s possible, as much as it depends on you, live peaceably with all men. (see Romans 12:18)
Not just those in your household, your family, or your friends, but with all people, everywhere.
Hostility breeds hostility. But if you encounter someone who is hostile, an act of love will diffuse the hostility in them, which is probably not intended toward you in the first place.
(I have found that sometimes a person will act like they are angry with you, when, in reality, they are angry about a situation.)
Put yourself in that person’s place and try to feel what they are feeling. Show them you care, at the risk of having your feelings bruised! Many times, you’ll survive the “bruise.” And often, they will turn into a softer spirit!
If trading places works, the sense of accomplishment, alone, will make your day!
